Cervical Facet Joint & Cervical Medical Branch Nerve Blocks
This procedure is often done to help find the cause of your neck and arm pain and then can assist in the treatment of the pain. The cervical facet joints are small joints throughout the cervical spine that can become arthritic and painful for a variety of reasons. The medial branches are nerves that innervate or provide sensation to the facet joints. The facet joints of the cervical spine can cause neck and arm pain in up to 40-60% of patients. This procedure can be performed by blocking the medial branch nerves or by injecting medication into the joint. Either way, the joint is anesthetized. Learn more . . .
Cervical Selective Nerve Root Block & Epidural Steroid Injection
This procedure is often done to help find the cause of your neck and arm pain and also can assist in the treatment of the pain. These nerves travel from your neck to your arms. Pressure or irritation of these nerves will result in neck pain, arm pain or both. The most common reason this might occur is with a herniated disc. By using local anesthetic and “turning off" the nerve, we can have some idea as to the cause of your pain. In addition, by placing a small amount of steroid onto the nerve root we can help relieve the inflammation and swelling of the nerve. This will usually result in improved pain relief. Learn more . . .
